This morning at church we did an exercise in Sacred Listening. Part of the text was in Luke 9:51, where “Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem”. Pastor Rod talked about courage to see something through—a staying on task situation.
Little did I know just how quickly that would be put to the test for me today.
My kitty, Kara, has been a faithful companion to me for 15 years. For the last year, she has been struggling with health issues and, of course, that means I have as well. But this week, her body very quickly decided it was time to go. I watched as she began to fade away and tried all I could to restore her to good health.
Last night, as I prayed, I felt the Lord’s assurance that 1) He would give me the courage to do what needed to be done and 2)that Kara had served Him well on this earth doing exactly what He designed her to do – be a faithful companion to His Kingdom Daughter—me.
Today I needed that word about Jesus resolutely setting out to see the task ahead through to completion no matter how difficult.
My Kara is with Jesus. I have no doubt there is a place for all God’s creatures to return to Him. How graciously He loves us as we hurt in our losses.
“Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you” I Peter 5:7.
