In Upheld in the Battle: Living In Heroic Faith I show how God took me through the deep waters that He designed for me. I learned that He is consistent to draw us along in His plan for us. Tough questions are addressed like what does it mean to truly trust God in the worst of times, and can God, in fact, be trusted?
The answer is a resounding yes. If you look to God in your difficult times of life, you will find He is there. When you risk your life for His use, He showers you with unimaginable treasures.
- He gives you courage to stand in heroic faith.
- He gives you compassion to love others.
- He gives you honor in opposition.
- He gives you generosity toward others.
- He gives you glory to create from your dreams.
- He gives you justice and mercy in the face of unfairness.
- He supplies your every need.
Once you realize how God loves you personally and intimately, you will come alive. God has passion for you, His child, and you can make that passion an everyday experience. Take His hand through the valley and find Him faithful. Once you do, you will not be able to resist His life in you. Come and see.
Upheld In The Battle is an honestly portrayed revelation of how God moves, speaks and gently guides us through the valleys and deserts of our lives. Linda Jo humbly weaves stories of personal pain with scripture, producing a beautiful portrait of lives touched by the hand of God just when all seems lost. Upheld In The Battle is well written and carefully crafted to create a pleasant blend of real life and tutorage.

Linda Jo Reed knows first-hand the challenges of walking a difficult and painful life path. But that’s not the point of her book. InUpheld in the Battle, she shows why she can say with unflinching certainty that God is faithful. Even in the toughest times. And in her practical and relatable book, she shows why we can say it, too. Thank you, Linda Jo. I wish I’d had this book when I was stumbling down my own difficult road.

I won this book from a sign-up in front of B&N where the author was promoting her work. This book came as a bit of a surprise to me as I do not often enjoy testimonials. I tend to feel alienated by the author as they attempt to push a certain theological angle, a specific religion, or even politics through their so called “devotional” material. The other side (which is almost worse) is inspirational “fluff” and tid-bit theology. This book (happily) is neither of those things. It is a seamless blend of storytelling, personal testimony, narrative, and devotion. At times this book reads like a devotional at other times it reads like a memoir, and although this interchanging style took a bit of getting used to, I think the weave works wonders in the end. This is one woman’s story of keeping her faith and hope alive under extremely dark and painful circumstances.
Really it is all in the title. This book is wonderful story of courage, faith, and giving one’s self up to God’s plan.
Well done, Linda Jo Reed! I like the voice of God in your writing, it so personal, that’s the way he sounds to me too!

First of all, I really like the cover and felt like I should at least acknowledge that in my review! Now, on to the content. This was a very encouraging read. After reading some of the author’s personal stories, it is really amazing to see how she kept her faith. So many people would have given up on God after going through only a portion of what she went through. She is a true inspiration and I would certainly recommend this book to any Christians who are going through hard times and wondering where God is. The author shared some very honest and serious moments with readers, but also had some fun and shared a few humorous things as well. This book was a real encouragement to me!
Upheld in the Battle is Linda Jo’s war cry of the faithfulness of God! More than a reporter’s “special interest piece,” Linda Jo’s testimony is personal, authentic and encouragingly challenging. Drawing from her own adult journey, she shares truths of God’s Word, love and matchless power to uphold His children through even the hardest things that life can throw at them. As personal friends of Linda Jo Reed, we are eye-witnesses to the healing power of God and His spirit of perseverance in her life. Whether in person or in these pages, Linda Jo points to the only source Who does not grow weary but sustains those who love Him, every step of the way to ultimate victory over life’s challenges. Strength and encouragement await; we highly recommend this volume for its healing properties to weary warriors.

Linda Jo’s personal stories are gripping. It’s inspiring to read how she persevered through such huge difficulties, more than most of us face. It’s a book about how to hold onto faith in hard times and how that faith makes a difference in helping you get through. You can’t help but think of issues in your own life and gain a new perspective.
