“I’m dancing on the mountaintop to see Your Kingdom come!”
My initial response on Easter morning to singing this song, “My Redeemer Lives” was YES!
YES! YES! YES!
Jesus is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! He has new life for us. He has a Kingdom to build and He invites us to be a part of that building. What could be a better mountaintop? It’s not just one experience. This is an earthly lifetime of building into heavenly realms that we will live in for eternity. Wow! Is that a BIG thought or what?
Imagine yourself standing on the mountain with the other disciples after Jesus just spent 40 days wandering around showing Himself to people. After all, seeing is believing to us humans, and He wanted to be sure there were plenty of humans who actually saw him and spent time with him after he left the tomb.
Here He stood on the mountain top, surrounded by those who loved Him. Are you watching? Do you see Him lifting His hand and beckoning for you to come closer? Maybe He’s doing a few dance steps? To show you and me His joy in the plan He purposed for us!
Then—He starts to float up into the sky—still beckoning to us. Leaving us with the invitation to join Him in His Kingdom building forever!
I can imagine His disciples descending into the dumps at that point. Yet, Jesus sent a couple angels to encourage those believers with a promise (to them AND to us, I think).
“Why do you stand here gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, who just left for heaven will come back again the same way.”
In other words, “Hey dudes! What are you hanging around for? Jesus just left, but He’s coming back! He gave you things to do, go get at it!”
So – start dancing! Jesus is building a Kingdom and He’s coming back for us!
“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call” Acts 3:39.
