Last week we talked about dancing on the mountaintop because Jesus has invited us into His Kingdom. Now we begin to work through what that means. Such a glorious beginning deserves an equally glorious ending.
I imagine that all the saints who have gone before us are sitting in a heavenly arena watching us as we fight the battles of earth winning through to triumph in building the Kingdom of God!
“Jana—get your armor on! There’s a big battle today! Get ready for it! You can do it!”
“Johnny—look out! Turn around, swing your Sword of the Spirit at that dark monster behind you! You can do it!”
“LJ—just shout out the Word and that sleezy creature will roll over and die! Hurry, you can do it!”
I hear that YOU CAN DO IT ringing through the arena to encourage me and my companion combatants in our time period. We are chosen to fight for our King! We can do it!
There is a great purpose to our lives. When the battles hit, we have over us the Banner of our King. He gives us every piece of war that we need to WIN! We have a great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us cheering for our victories. WE CAN DO IT!
When the darkness comes, we can be confident in this: Jesus is for us and He has already won the victory at the cross and the empty tomb. What we have are the skirmishes yet left over that are reminiscent of the last kicks before defeat.
Our privilege is to show the grace and magnificence of our King to those who don’t yet know the battle is won. WE CAN DO IT!
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” I John 5:4.
