Remarkable News: Thank you, Bette, for joining us today.
Bette Noone: Thank you for the opportunity.
RN: We understand that you are retiring from your florist shop, Roses & Blooms, after forty years of serving Wild Rose Ridge. We certainly will miss you in our town. You have been a pillar of the community; serving on the City Council several terms and having been a great part of planning seasonal festivals.
BN: Well, thank you. It’s been a good run, but now it is time to try something new. I plan to travel and visit everywhere I can. I expect that will take a couple of years. Then we’ll see what comes up after that.
RN: I hope your travels bring you great joy. You deserve it. So, what do you see for the future of Wild Rose Ridge and business you are leaving?
BN: Well, thank you. It’s time for some new ideas and personalities—dare I say younger?—to take over. Times change and so must how things are done. We want Wild Rose Ridge to be fresh and vibrant as a district and a vacation destination.
RN: We certainly do. I understand that a new owner is busy giving Roses & Blooms that fresh new outlook.
BN: That’s right. Alene Peterson is fairly new to the community. She is connected through her adopted sister, Kellie Selgado, who is part of the Walcott clan. Alene and her assistant, Kris, are bringing wreath making classes to the business. Alene will continue to provide flower arrangements for The Ridge Hotel and other businesses around town. There are some other things in the planning stages. Maybe even romance in the air.
RN: I might have to look into the wreath making classes. Tell me more about the romance.
BN: All I can say at this point is speculation. But I did witness Alene literally falling into Kyle Walcott’s arms in the front door of the shop the other day.
RN: Ooh, we will have to keep an eye on that situation. Thank you for meeting with us today, Bette. The best to you in your travels.
