Lonely
I’ve been reading a lot of suspense lately. The story usually starts with the hero or heroine having uneasy feelings that someone is watching them, or they are searching every murky corner for something they can’t name.
But one thing is always the same. They are alone. And vulnerable. Susceptible to gloomy imaginings or dark suggestions.
When you are alone, things always look worse than they are.
A Few Friends
Friends
Then along comes a companion for our hero/heroine. Someone who has a fresh outlook and solves the issues.
And so it is with us. Someone comes along who might have a solution to a problem we just can’t quite figure out. I am so grateful when that happens! Things look better. The shadows flee.
We weren’t meant to sit home alone.
A root beer float or fru fru coffee at the coffee shop along with a few laughs changes the whole day. Ever notice that?
God gives us family and friends for a reason. Right?
Community
God made us for community. He tells us so in His Word. Last Sunday, after a great food spread in the church HUB, we did some country dancing. My two left feet did their thing, but since I wasn’t the only one, we had some good laughs.
What a great time.
We need each other in community. Whether in fun times, or serious times when we need more knowledge and understanding than we have in our situations.
What a reminder that when the darkness threatens us, support, help, and joy are close by.
We only have to reach for it.
Who knows what God will do?
