Cataract Surgery
Ok, raise your hands. How many of you have been through cataract surgery? Since my own eyes are undergoing new life, I have heard many stories from friends that I knew not had already undergone eye transformation. How amazing.
And it is amazing. I had no idea how dim my vision had become until surgery this week. Wow! In several places, the Scriptures talk about how our eyes grow dim over the years. It is true. It’s like having sunglasses vision without wearing sunglasses. I can tell you that because I have one clear eye that sees bright and fresh, and the other sees through shadows. I never would have known before cataract surgery.
Everyone said the surgery was a snap. It was. But I do remember the kaleidoscope of color during the process. Incredible! There is no end to the “fearfully and wonderfully made” that we are.
Lopsided Vision
I mentioned that I now have lopsided vision. Two kinds. Bright and dim. Clear and fuzzy. It means constant adjustments in all I do in a day. I wear a set of glasses with one lens punched out. It makes for interesting conversation when I am out and about.
Oh yeah, there are boucou eyedrops that will be happening for the next month. A small price to pay.
Thank goodness, the second surgery is coming up.
The In-Between
During this in-between time of fixing one eye and waiting to fix the other, I have had some time to reflect on being in-between.
We all live in the already and the not yet. We are all waiting for God to make things right in the world. It looks impossible. But all things are possible with God. He has made us sturdy. As we wait on Him, we abide in His will to live life in the in-between time.
Jesus came and provided our salvation. We are invited to live with Him forever. We anticipate the change He will bring with Him when life becomes immeasurably brighter than we have ever known. All the colorful kaleidoscope abides in Him.
Because He is the Light.
