Vision Up Close
I am still on the vision kick. Next cataract surgery coming up. Am I ready? Yahoo! How nice it will be to have matching eyes again. No more blurs on one side that distort the truth!
This time has certainly brought vision before my face, up close and personal. It brings lots of things to mind.
Like: What do you see when you open your eyes in the morning? The cat? Or dog? The weather out the window?
Once awake, what do you see beyond what you see?
Huh?
Vision Intervention
With earthly eyes, you see or you don’t. The vision may be varied. Shades of gray. Color blindness. Blurry or dim. It is what it is.
Unless there is an intervention. Then the brilliant color returns to your life.
That is how it is spiritually as well. If we don’t tend our souls, then life grows dim and blurry. We need intervention.
God of Color
When I saw the kaleidoscope of color during the first surgery, I thought about how bright the throne of God must be. It was almost too much to take in. Except that I had no choice at the time.
The book of Revelation describes the colors surrounding God’s throne a few times. I couldn’t imagine it. Now I have an inkling. Yet, as bright as the light was during surgery, I’m betting it was still dim compared to the real thing.
It did give me a longing to see the real thing. Rainbows circling the throne that God is sitting upon. Is that even a heavenly reminder of His promise to us earthlings? Other colors implanted in His throne, on His person, gold on the elders’ heads around Him. Lightning and thunder going on. Dazzling, indeed.
I think God loves color. He is the original artist, after all.
And He created everything for us to enjoy—with Him.
Eternal Vision
While I will soon celebrate new, clear vision in both eyes, it is still earthly.
I won’t see plainly just yet.
We were made for eternity. Where our bodies will never grow dim, achy, ill or wear out. Instead, brilliance will be everywhere, including our beings. Like the beauty of crystal, we will shine.
No need to cover our eyes or wear sunglasses.
Something to look forward to, don’t you think?
Eternal vision is on the way.
How beautifully contagious, the hope you express here—a loveliness so heartening and healing, my soul cries Thank you, thank you for peering through the murk, enduring the strain, glimpsing the glory and reporting back.
Thank you for your heartfelt encouragement. Hope is so necessary to our souls. I feel this need, too.
