I often walk along the river. At any season, its many facets fascinate me. From mirroring the scenery around it to dangerous rapids, it calls to the soul. Sometimes it gently beckons one to rest. Other times, it demands an answer.
When the waterway presents a calm veneer, do you ever wonder at the unseen currents below?
“It’s All Good!”
“So, how are things going?”
“Oh, fine. Fine. How about you?”
“Yep, it’s all good.”
I wonder what, exactly, does this dialogue mean? Are we really all fine? Is it all good?
I think most of us are a part of a conversation like this daily—somewhere. But underneath all those “fines” are rushing waters. That’s because life happens. We cultivate the serene surface, but most of us are struggling through our days, wondering how the present crisis is going to settle.
What would happen if, one time, we answered, “Actually, I’m in the middle of a disaster”?
God Works In Secret
What a relief it is to know that we are not alone in our catastrophes. God is ever present with us and knows every blow that falls. His compassion is ceaseless and His mercies are new for us every morning. He is even closer than a cry away.
He works in places we don’t see. While we may be showing that placid face to the world, God is working in those depths we don’t reveal to anyone—even ourselves! He follows His own plan, which works out best for everybody involved. Even if it doesn’t look so good to us at the time. He does His work in His way, and the results will be the best solution for everyone.
Just as He designed.
It’s not up to us to fix it.
Our part is to wait on answers in God’s time.
To trust that He will accomplish His purposes.
And pray.

Loved reading this at the start of the week, Linda Jo. God of the undertow, God of the deeps, thank you for mercy, ever-working in our behalf, washing us clean, helping our hopes resurface. Amen
Amen!
