Clear Vision
On a clear day, you can see forever – so goes an old song. I sure can attest to that now that I have clear, far-seeing vision in both eyes. The way God made us to be. Who would have thought that a winter scene could be vibrant? Not a whole lot of color, but I see the sharpness of the pine needles on the trees. I am thankful for this second chance to see.
Pondering Vision
As I have been going through this time of restoring my vision, I’ve had some time to think. It’s funny how a word can have so many meanings. And an experience can have several layers.
I was blind, but now I see.
On the top is the obvious. My former darkened eyesight is now bright and sharp. I can see things I could not see before.
But behind the physical eyes—what is there? A different kind of vision. A vision of the soul. I bet you have heard the same thing I have that the eyes are the window to the soul.
What do you and I see when we look in the mirror? Or look someone else in the eye?
Or maybe we might consider another kind of vision—a dream to pursue with our lives?
God-Given Vision
In Oswald Chamber’s book, My Utmost For His Highest, he says that our reach must exceed our grasp. He said that this is the proof that we have a vision. It is always just outside our grasp and we are constantly reaching for it. That if we are devoted to God and not a cause, we will be energized by God and inspiration will follow.
The thing is this: all along, vision has been, and still is, God’s plan for us. He gives it, we grasp it. And then we let go.
What? Yes. Let go. And wait.
We trust Him to bring about the vision for our lives in His time and His way. Even if it takes a while.
He will do it.
What is the vision God has given you for your life? What has He called you to do?
Then wait for Him to refine it and set your feet on the path. As He leads, move forward.
He will do it.
“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:13-14 NKJV).
