The morning sun burst over the horizon this morning while I was still sort of snoozing. Through my half closed eyelids, I saw it slant through the window and steal across the wall. Even in my half-sleep state, I rejoiced to see the sun.
Winter is so gray. The skies are gray. The landscape is drab and lackluster. If there is snow, it can be beautiful to begin with, but as dirt from roads and shuffling feet track on it, snow becomes pretty drab to look at, too. Ice is difficult to negotiate. I just get tired.
So the sun bursting across my wall and into my soul this morning was very welcome. Somehow, life looks brighter when the sun shines. Aside from the needed sun-filled nutrients, I felt the promise of good things for this new day.
Our God sits above the sun and sends us the rays of His love. What other good things can there be than this? He already has the day in hand and He knows the plans He has for us.
“And He shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises…” II Samuel 32:4a
