“Tonight the stars shine for the children…” so begins a song about Christmas. It goes on to describe ribbons, packages, and searching the sky. Laughter and joy is part of this scene… ”a time to give and to share…”
A scene to stir our hearts with longing.
It’s Christmas and a time for tender blessings. What if all of us are children? What if our heavenly Father looks with anticipation upon each one of us for our reaction to the Gift He has given us? What if He watches eagerly as we unwrap this marvelous Gift in each of our lives?
What if the Light radiates all through our lives as we receive His Gift? What if we live each day in wondering joy as we continually unwrap His Gift? Surely tender blessings will cover us from every direction!
A time to give, a time to receive, a time to share. It all comes from a Father with a heart of love for the children He has created. Like any father who has planned for surprises to give to his children, our Father above plans for life to surprise us at every turn.
He establishes us in paths we are to trod. He guards us in our ways. He directs our hearts into His own love and delights us with every good work. He does it through the Gift of His own Son, Jesus. The very Gift of Christmas that we unwrap every day.
At the end of Christmas Day, many a child rests in the lap of his father. After lots of excitement and activity, a time of repose is needed. What better place than in Daddy’s lap? And so our Abba Daddy invites us to His lap for rest. He holds us with tender blessing, and His heart beats in our ears. I love you, my child, He whispers.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17.
