Cancer sure is the great leveler.
It’s the time you have to put your faith where your mouth is. I always tell people, “There is life after cancer!” What’s more – I believe it!
When that diagnosis comes, it can be numbing—all the way from the top of your head to the soles of your feet. This is a word that has been associated with great fear—and worse. Yet—how many of us have overcome!
And we have proved that when there is nowhere else to go, God is still with us. No matter what. No matter when. No matter how. He promised He would never leave us nor forsake us. When you get a deadly diagnosis, you find out He is True.
I stand by this Truth. There really is Nowhere Else To Go.
Sometimes the struggle comes when a close family member or a very dear friend hears terrible news. I helplessly stand aside and watch them suffer through these awful diseases and situations. Somehow it’s easier to apply faith when such an opinion is applied to me. Is it because I can control my own attitude and I don’t have to look to God to give it to me? Trust comes more easily when I don’t have to struggle to believe the Truth for loved ones.
I know. I am in this place now. I can’t cure them—two children; beloved family members, (and the agonies of their parents); and two beloved friends. All at the same time, two suffering with cancer and two with unfathomable health situations. There really is Nowhere Else To Go when life is threatened.
But I can stand in faith for them. And I will. I can pray because I know God is with them. He will keep them close to His heart. He will comfort them in the dark places. He is the only One who can be there in the deep regions of their souls. And He knows how to console each one of His children. My dear ones are never alone.
When there is Nowhere Else To Go—then God is already there.
“(S)He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him (her); I will be with him (her) in trouble; I will deliver him (her) and honor him (her). With long life I will satisfy him (her), and show him (her) My salvation” Psalm 91:15,16.

Oh, Linda, my heart aches for you and your loved ones. I agree it is so much easier when it happens to yourself rather than one of them. I will continue to join you in prayer. Life does go on after cancer and it can have even deeper joys.
Thank you, Dianna. God is always good and while it’ll be hard to watch this happen, I think He will bring about good things. Bless you for your prayers.
Sometimes it’s all we can do…stand, which you, my friend do very well.
Thank you, Jan. I know you understand because you have had to stand firm as well. I’m so glad you are on the healed side of the Big C with your loved one now.
