Santa Wyatt with G’ma Lindy
As we finish up Thanksgiving weekend, I am so glad we pause to give thanks to our wonderful Creator for all He has done for us.
I visited my daughter’s family this weekend. We ate turkey, pumpkin pie and caramel nut rolls. The feast was wonderful, of course, and I am grateful to spend time with them. On Black Friday, we went shopping like everyone in the nation. While I tried to get a nice smiley face from little 4 year old Santa Wyatt, he had other ideas. Rather than push it, I joined him. What a fun time.
Since I traveled across a couple states amid the winter weather, I was reminded of many who lost family members this weekend. Some through natural means, and others through unnatural means – such as car pileups on the freeway during a holiday travel. Then—there are the miracles that God performs. Why for some and not for others? I don’t understand God’s plans for all of us, but how He brings those plans about often look like miracles.
I was not the only family member on the road the night before Thanksgiving this year. My nephew and his girlfriend drove much further east through Montana than I did. Somewhere around Billings Wednesday night, Travis reported that three cars in front of his car crashed on a bridge and two cars behind him ran into a semi-truck. One of the cars spun so hard the axle came off, as well as other horrors.
My nephew’s car was untouched.
I don’t know why Travis and his girlfriend were protected. But I see it as a miracle. I thank God that my family was spared a tragedy this year at holiday time. I pray for the families who are grieving.
May God comfort them and may the rest of us never tire of thanking God for His many blessings to us.
“Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praide him according to His excellent greatness…Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” Psalm 150: 2 and 6.

Nice to read of a warm and fun family Thanksgiving, LJo! Praise to the Lord for His protection on the roads. Welcome to December! Hugs, Nanc
