God purposes and God directs.
I am amazed at how God talks to each one of us even when we have never before listened for His voice or recognized it. God gets across what He wants even to those who have never consciously met Him. Yet, somehow in our spirits, we know His voice.
I listened to someone sharing his story this morning in church. He told about a life of running from God, living on the streets and dealing with addictions, ending up in jail numerous times. This is a story that many of us have heard, but what struck me was that he said “this time in jail was different—I just sensed it”.
God tapped him on the shoulder and whispered in his ear that He, God, would now be the One to direct the prisoner’s steps. The rest of the jail time was spent alone, reading the Bible and learning to pray and hear God.
“I was in jail, but I was full of joy. Life truly changed for me and I know God loves me.”
This young man now has a family and he follows the steps God gives him for ministry to others.
I have heard stories about God appearing to people in countries where they have never known Him or even heard of Him. Yet, those lives change, too. Somehow, God gets His messages across to those whose spirits will open up to Him no matter where they are or what they have been involved in.
And for those of us who live in difficult situations, God still reminds us that he is God.
I am amazed. God purposes and directs.
