“I miss My time with you,” the refrain from a song reverberates through my mind. I get up each day and start the mad dash through the day. Oh yes—don’t forget the two minute devotional before jumping in the car.
“I miss My time with you,” I look at the chair in the living room upon returning home from the day’s work. I just don’t have time right now. I’ll get to the devotional when the chores are done. When the agendas are all fleshed out; when the meetings are over, the dishes are done, the laundry folded and put away. You know, later in the evening when there is an uninterrupted block of time.
“I miss My time with you”. This time I pause. There is no uninterrupted block of time. What if I make an appointment?
“Do you miss your time with Me?” The tears rush to my eyes. Does my Lord have to ask me that?
“Yes, Lord, I do”.
“But I’m helpless to stop the merry-go-round. There’s just too much on the list to accomplish and I don’t know how it happens. Help me. What? You ARE the Resting Place? You mean if I just sit with You, then you will replenish my energy, my time and even my sleep?”
I don’t want us to miss our time together. I want His Voice to grow louder, to cover the din of my life. Let the urgent tasks screaming at me fade away as I seek my time with Him. Yet, His Voice remains soft and sweet, to lure me to listen to Him. To seek His eyes as they gaze longingly at me. Inviting me to come and sit with Him. Drawing me closer. At the appointed time.
So we don’t miss our time together.
