Changeable weather means Spring this time of year. And Spring means new life and refreshing.
Today I experienced wind, snow, rain, hail, sun and an array of clouds. I traveled home across Washington State. What a beautiful state it is, too. High majestic mountains, snow-capped right now, divide the state. On the west, we see green. It’s a bit wet, but colors are bursting forth out of the green.
We rolled through a huge bank of clouds as we drove through the Pass, and eastward into the desert where we welcomed the sun. It felt so good until we arrived at the gas station and the wind nearly tore the door off the car as we got out of it. The storm chased us all the way home.
Finally safe at home, I watched the hail driving across my lawn and it drove more wildly than I did coming home. Now it’s gone and I see sun and blue sky. The cloud bank is now in the distance.
So why do I feel the need to take you on my road trip? I think it is because the constant changes in today’s weather remind me of how life refreshes us with its great diversity and challenges. We learn and grow through the rain and the snow. We play when the sun comes out. The wind rushes through our spirits and reminds us that life is moving us along to a greater destiny still in the distance.
We may drive furiously through the rough weather, but if we choose to trust our God to speed us on, He will see to it that we will arrive. He will make sure we don’t get lost, no matter how many bends in the road or what the weather contains for us. He is faithful to meet us at every junction and refresh us for whatever He has called us to do.
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8
