The Question
We do prompts at my writing group, Scribettes. We have a list of questions, and we each pick one to write about. Some turn out pretty strange, and some are very insightful.
The question I chose to write about this week was, “What expert do you wish could come teach you what they know?”
Pondering
I’m not sure I need an expert to teach me, as I need an expert to help me actually implement what I already know. You get my meaning?
It seems that I am doing so much that maybe the expert needs to coach me on how to cease and desist.
But, cease and desist would be boring and accomplish nothing.
And running around trying to do everything in one go is exhausting.
Perhaps the expert should be a tutor in time management.
In this world of sin that keeps us always lurching forward (1 step) or backward (2 steps), can there be balance?
The Source
The Good News is: Yes! There is help!
Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
There is a place in His heart and His hands to stop, take deep breaths, rest a while before the next sprint. He invites us.
He calls Himself The Shepherd and we are His sheep. He searches everywhere for us when we wander. He is the Place of Safety. He brushes off the burrs we collect on our skin as we rush through the daily brambles of life. He hooks his staff around our necks when we are running headlong toward the cliff and we don’t see it because our heads are down to increase our speed.
Tis The Season
So, as you begin your Christmas Sprint this year – take the time to listen for His Voice. He will be calling you to times of resting.
He’ll be there, ready to fill your empty tank and send you out again.
