Funny how the evil one tries to distract us from the important things in our lives.
Last week was pretty bizarre. True, there is road construction going on in front of my house. I live on a hill and there seem to be springs under the hill that are undermining the road. So, the County is trying to harness the water and control the situation. That will help with the ice ponds at the bottom of the road in the winter.
But, my lawn mower guy could not get to my yard to mow, my grass is growing taller than anyone else’s. Deliveries could not be made. Now I have to go far away to pick up my packages. My furnace man could not come.
However, those are cause and effect. The bizarre stuff went like this: the dryer ran all night – but only once. Never happened before and it’s been fine since. The locks on my car decided not to work. But only for one day. Something I ordered went to someone else across the country – like to Delaware! I met a new friend, because the recipient contacted me and sent my stuff to me. I am still looking for her stuff from the company we ordered from in my mailbox.
Why did all these things happen at once? And why now? And how do they quit working and suddenly fix themselves?
One at a time, these things are inconvenient, petty annoyances. But all together – in one week, that’s bizarre.
I can only conclude that the evil one was busy. After all, I had Mentoring Retreat for Writing happening over the weekend. It was pretty important to me to move forward with my current project. Certainly obstacles were thrown in my way to cause distraction.
You can be sure that when God has a plan, the devil will do his best to interfere. The choice is then to wallow in the distractions, sit and moan about them; OR walk in faith and watch what God will do.
Be calm, Child, I have your back.
