Our God is always calling us, but I think we don’t always hear. When our times get tough, we spend a lot of time wondering where He is and I wonder why we don’t just stop and obey the Scripture? It’s really an easy thing we are asked to do.
“Be Still and Know That I Am God.”
Really. How hard is it to sit still, contemplate that God is God, and wait to hear His Voice?
Sigh. I bet for most of us that is a tall order; so tall that we can’t quite see ourselves climbing onto that resting spot in the first place. We have to find the footholds in the rocks to get up there. We know the view will be wonderful. We will be able to see all things.
So we struggle, put our hands on a rock, pull, put a foot on another rock, push, wipe the sweat from our faces.
But if we do manage to get up to that high plateau, and sit to rest on the boulder waiting for us, how long is it before we are squirming? We sit for a minute, look at the view, listen to the birds, soak in the sun, then we start looking around us. What is there to DO?
Maybe we pull out our ipods, phones, ipads, MP3s, and other gizmos; stick them in our ears, close our eyes and jive to the artificial world we create.
And all the time, our God is calling us, “be still and know that I am God.”
If you put away your gizmos, sit still on the rock and gaze upon creation, you will hear My Voice. I AM constantly at your side. I will never leave you nor forsake you. I long for your attention. I love you with an everlasting love. Come to Me. Rest in My love.
