Autumn Again
Some might argue, but summer is over here in the Pacific Northwest. It may be hot and dry. The sun is orange due to smoke, and the heat is a little less intense. That’s because the sun’s rays now reach us at a slant instead of a direct hit. That means a season turnover.
Yes, indeed.
Thankfully, there’s been an outpouring of rain to tamp down the smoldering fires that have done so much damage in our region this year.
That is something to be thankful for.
Soon the brilliant hues will pop out for us to admire in nature.
Mindful
It makes me mindful of life’s changes. Those we welcome and those we dread.
In this season, we welcome babies into the world. The inexpressible joy that their coming brings to us. They begin their earthly journey.
Then, we say goodbye to loved ones leaving this world. The grief is just as inexpressible. They leave holes in our hearts and lives.
Disasters come and go and we move forward each time. And we grow a little older.
Life and death continue season after season.
Sustained
If we could hear our Father God speak to us, what might He be saying?
I see you, Child. When your joy overflows, I laugh with delight. When your heart hurts, Mine squeezes with you. I AM always by you. Around you. Before and behind you. You are never without My care. Feel My hugs.
How comforting. In every season, to know He is with us. No matter what.
“You whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:3-4 NIV).
