I recently saw a photo that reminded me of the many times I have watched spectacular shows in the skies. When I saw sunrays light out over the top of a hill like a lighthouse, and other days as I walked in the afternoons and watched the sunrays play through the clouds.
Another evening I saw streaks of gold and salmon and purple as the sun set over the ocean. In still another view, I saw great billowing late afternoon clouds part like a curtain to allow gossamer rays to highlight a gilded river between dark cliffs.
This scene from the photo seemed to unfold before me: awesome rays from the throne of God—the sun breaking through the clouds and pooling on the seemingly vast and infinite ocean. God’s grace sliding down to earth to cover us and it’s available and free. Glorious to behold.
Given because God cannot help Himself, He is compelled to give it. His grace is too great and wonderful for Him to hold back—like water in a waterfall. It just must flow. It spreads and sparkles and beckons. We are invited to worship as we gaze up the rays to the brightness above made even more brilliant by the dark clouds around.
God is holy, holy, holy.
