May is such a gorgeous month. Trees burst out with colors and beauty, everything is greening up, the smells of fresh cut grass and lilacs waft across the breezes and the sunshine brings such warmth.
I love it!
Mother’s Day comes every May, too. Today, I am reflecting on things I learned from my Mom. As I watch my new kitten companions chase each other around the house, then bask in the sun, I think about how I learned that love of kitties from my Mom. I remember hearing stories from my grandma about how Mom always brought home the strays to care for.
My love of gardening and the delight of watching the flowers grow and bloom in my gardens come from watching my Mom digging in the dirt, then gently tending to her flowers while I was growing up. It’s sort of like mothering, you know.
I learned to love the designs and art in jewelry. It’s not just fine pieces, but it took somebody’s creativity to dream up those sparklies. We like to wear them and show them off!
I learned to love fine things like china cups, teapots, pretty table settings and—of course—teas. There are all kinds of blends and some of them are pretty yummy! Mom and I like to drink tea together from those lovely china cups. Poured out from those lovely china teapots, too, naturally.
I learned a love of knowledge and reading from my Mom. I hope I’ve passed that along to my children, too. I do believe it is frustrating to all of us to have more books than we can possibly read in a lifetime.
One can never learn enough. Then, again, there will never be enough time in this lifetime to learn everything. It’s a good thing we’ll be spending eternity together, too. Then, God, our Father, will be our Teacher forever!
So, Happy Mother’s Day, Mom. I love you.
