Two Gardens. Two Betrayals.
It’s close to Easter time again. We consider the Easter Bunny, the colored eggs and hunts. The family dinners and all the fun of celebrating Spring. While this is all fun, as with Christmas, the reality of the season gets covered over with glitz.
The thoughts of many of us turn to consider the real celebration. The one that counts for eternity.
In the beginning, there was a garden. It was probably lush and contained all that is needed to nourish life. God put a man and woman in the garden. He planned to walk in the cool of the day with them and have friendship together.
But, they betrayed Him. They listened to the destroyer instead and had to leave the garden for a very tough existence on the planet. God had to come and bring a promise of redemption to them.
Fast forward to another garden. From all the photos I have seen, this, too, was a lush garden. It seems that it had nourishing fruit in it. Then came a Man in anguish. He came to redeem. The destroyer came for Him, this time with clubs and swords. The weapons were not needed, He went willingly.
God—betrayed twice.
In gardens, both times.
Yet, Jesus went to the Cross to forgive us and lift us out of the stinging nettles of sin forever.
Who is like our God? No one. No, not one.
“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things and by Your will they exist and were created” Revelation 4:11.
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!” Revelation 5:12.
