As every woman knows, the smallest tasks can be insurmountable when you don’t know how to do it and you don’t have someone at home to do it for you.
A couple weeks ago, one of the tires on my car went nearly flat. I didn’t notice it right away, so it must have a slow leak. I wondered why I heard this funny sound when turning my wheels. Hmm. I took it to the local Fred Meyer and the nice young man there filled my tire. It was late at night and I couldn’t see what he did. All I knew was that you stuck a tube in the tire and then pulled it out. I didn’t know about air pressure, and making sure the tires were the same. I didn’t know what to do next, either.
Because of time and money constraints, I hoped to make it until November when the tires would be changed from summer to winter tires. I still use studs. Yes, I know all the arguments against them, but all I know is that if I don’t have studs, I don’t get up my hill in the winter snows.
I’ve been worried about my tires for the last two weeks or so. They look ok. The one tire doesn’t look like it’s deflated any. But still—I worried.
Today I went to a gas island and got out my car instruction book to see what is supposed to be in the tires and try to do this big, mammoth chore all by myself.
Lo and behold, a nice young man pulled his car up and pulled out the air hose to fill his tires.
“Oh, oh—can I watch you?” I asked.
“Sure,” he responded with a bit of puzzlement.
I explained my dilemma. He not only showed me what to do, answered my questions, but he also checked all my tires with his gauge and pronounced me good to go. Then he drove away.
I stood there for a minute thinking how like my Father/Husband God to send someone to do exactly what I needed done today. He is trustworthy to see to our every need. Why don’t we trust Him more?
“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass” Psalm 37:5.
