I think most of us are stunned when God suddenly moves through our lives in BIG ways! That is happening to me. I am amazed, overwhelmed, scared, excited, ready to run forward and ready to go hide in a safe place where nothing happens and all at the same time.
All my life I have loved to write. Making up stories, or telling the truth as I see it – it is all the making of many words. I love clever phrases when they show up in one of my pieces. Words mean things. Words communicate things. I love words!
As all writers do, I dreamed of being published one day. I finished a book a couple years ago, titled Upheld In The Battle. I self-published it and friends and family have read it. But God always assured me that He has an audience for that book. I didn’t know what that meant. I knew I had to go out and market, but that’s where the “hiding in the safe place where nothing happens comes in.”
Recently, my book has been picked up by Morgan James Publishing, a traditional publisher out of New York. Yippeee! Yippeee! A new adventure is underway! When this began, I was truly stunned. It was not expected, I was actually pushing something else when the offer came. But I knew right away that this was the right path. I am very excited and can’t wait to see what God is going to do with this project!
As to the marketing: well, that’s still a giant in my landscape. I moaned to God about – this great mystery that takes great effort and expense…
“Why did you write this book?” God cut across my wallowing.
“Because I wanted people to know that you love them, that even when things are tough, if they just walk through it with you and hang in there for the long haul and not run away, you’ll see them through.”
“Then go tell them.”
Huh? That’s it? Go – tell them. Haven’t I heard that somewhere before? Like in the Scriptures?
It’s not a matter of marketing: it’s a matter of being obedient to GO AND TELL THEM!
Once I got that through my head, ideas started to come. I can’t believe I am actually looking forward to the going and telling! It is God’s timing for this message from this vessel – me.
Wow. Ok.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age’” Matthew 28:18-20.
