Planted By The River of Life
The Scripture tells us that the one who walks uprightly is like the tree planted by the river, and its leaves do not wither, but prosper.
Yet, I look around and see the problems and complications that many of us suffer. Our leaves look a bit wilted. Yet nourishment is flowing by our sides at all times. Refreshing, cool, lovely. All we need to do is reach our roots right out to those waters.
Persecution and Thirst
Even in our difficulties, the river flows. Even in famine, the river flows. Even in persecution, the river flows.
I have heard statistics recently that say that persecution of Christians today is surpassing anything known in times past. This idea is really hard to grasp. To us, it is an idea. To those living this scenario, it is a bloody reality. God, forgive us for not seeing or hearing. For not mourning the losses of His people on this earth. God, help us to listen for what You would have us do. And how would You have us prepare for a time yet coming?
How can we help our brothers and sisters in great need of the refreshment of cool waters to flow by them so they can stretch out their roots?
Tree of Life
God has a great plan. For those who have invited Jesus into their hearts through His own Sacrifice of Life for us, He has provided the Tree of Life. This Tree is waiting for us. It grows on both sides of the bank of the River of Life, which is crystal clear and sparkling—straight from the Throne of God. Perhaps the Throne looks like the Rock behind the Tree which grows on the river banks?
Fruit of every kind grows on the branches of this Tree and parched souls will be completely filled and satisfied. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. That’s all of us!
Encouragement
I exhort us to put our faith in our God. To listen for His Voice. To pray for our brothers and sisters at home and around the world fervently. To act as He calls us. Be heartened in any circumstance. God’s plan is still in place and He will not let any of His children perish.
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
They shall see His face, and His Name shall be on their foreheads” Revelation 22:1-4.
