Take Your Time
Is there anything more difficult for us, in our culture, than taking our time? We have a project to do and we look at the clock, calculate how much time we can allow for it, rush through getting it done so we can move on to the next one. Repeat the process. Several times a day.
I’m not sure how much actually gets accomplished. Perhaps a lot of busy work, maybe a few chores around the house, but time has a tendency to get away from us.
At moments when I feel depleted, I’ll take walks to meet with God. Perhaps it’s easier to connect with Him because there are no distractions and nature is His hospitality room. Everywhere I look, I see His handiwork and it beckons.
Replenish Your Time
I sensed His encouragement to me wait on Him. I blunder a lot and tend to bludgeon myself over it. This day, as I walked, I could feel His healing balm applied to my spirit. The warm, late afternoon autumn sun caressed my body and I imagined it as a hug from my Jesus.
I didn’t worry about how much time it was taking on this walk. I could hear His whisper, “Come, experience this day. You can’t notice the calm if you are rushing through the day. Walk with Me today.”
This is treasured time.
Measure Your Time
We measure our time constantly. We try to fit so much in each day. But what can we accomplish at the speed of light when God’s hand is not in it? Can we do one thing at a time—is it possible to give up juggling?
Rushing, waiting, listening: it is a choice, after all.
If we take the time to center ourselves in Jesus, our Savior, then He has the plans to develop our futures and our hope is in Him.
“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?” Isaiah 40:12a.
“He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm…” Isaiah 40:11a.

Linda Jo, what a lovely post! Reading it brings peace to my soul. The Lord told me to spend every Wednesday with Him, so I soak, listen, and journal midweek. I love that time is in His hands! (Psalm 31:15)
Wow! That’s wonderful, Lynn. I am spending more time and want to. I love time in His Hands, too. And, of course, journaling. I seem to “hear” Him better with pen and paper. Funny, huh?
