Our Place
The view is the same every spring. But it is different, too. The same rocks, but different water swirling and leaping them. But every spring, I am there to take another photo. Because it’s fresh. And winter is fading into the past. The sun is out. And so are we.
My friend, Gail, and I attend different churches. But sometimes on a Sunday, we meet up here. We call it “our place” now. Today, I texted her that I was there, and she texted back that she was on the other side of the river. We waved, exchanged photo views, but never saw each other.
That’s okay. God was there. He always is.
Refreshment
Today I met a couple from Wisconsin. They moved to Spokane three years ago. They said our river is special. I already knew it.
This is a place where God meets a lot of us. We drink in the fresh air, the sunshine, and welcome the warmth we have missed since last autumn.
Because its spring again, our lives are invigorated. We are out walking, hiking, cycling, greeting one another and waving across the river.
And clearing off our yards of debris and watch our tender green plants lift up their limbs. I’m sure those green shoots take deep breaths when the pine needle blankets are removed.
The Cycle of Life Continues
So the cycle of life goes on. Just as it does every spring. It’s the same. But it’s a different year.
The Wisconsin couple had been sitting and watching a duck in her nest in a rock below the bluff. They told me how Mom watched out for her hatchlings and Pop sat below them, on guard. They showed me their photos.
God is good. Even as He welcomes our loved ones home and delivers new ones for us to love.
Thanks for bearing with my ramblings today. It is Sunday. A day to soak in early spring reflections.
God is good. Still. The same. But different.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:5 NKJV).
