I wonder why it is so easy to get side-tracked?
We have a goal in front of us. We study for it. We work towards it. Then somewhere along the way, we lose sight of it. Then we find ourselves running along another course that seems right, but it isn’t. The energy flags, the ideas dry up, and soon we’re not running anymore. We may even wonder what we are doing and why are we in this place.
That’s where I found myself. The excitement was gone and I sighed through my days. What happened?
Many directions opened for me and as I trotted down several of them at once (yes, you can do this in spirit and deed!) I lost my way. My goals disappeared in all the work in front of me that supposedly would be helping to achieve those goals. Not so. I returned to my Source, on my knees, crying out, “Show me!”
He said, “Return to your Root. Go back to the beginning. I will be there.”
Go where God’s plan unfolds for you. Only you can fulfill your place in His design for His heavenly tapestry. We each have a particular task that is particularly color coded. Only that color can be in that place to make the picture on the other side look just right. He wants all the pieces to be in all the right places. And each piece is matchless.
All God’s people are unique. Uniquely gifted and uniquely able to receive. He has an audience for each of us. Each of us is part of another’s audience as well.
To stay the course, I am determined to seek out my Source, keep my eyes on His Word, keep my blueprint (and not try to copy someone else’s) in front of me. My Source says “look not to the right or to the left, but follow Me straight ahead.”
What’s your strategy?
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Because His mercy endures forever!” Psalm 118:1.
