In my busy life, I fill many roles. We all do. And we have many expectations to fulfill as well.
Taking Time To Think
I managed to catch the creepy crud that is going around this winter. At first I moaned through my tissues. But the crud has given me some days to lay low (literally!) and contemplate (along with plenty of naps!). Resting is something we need and mostly neglect. But, there is a season for it. I am grateful, now, to have a short season to rest after an extremely busy time at work.
The phrase, “remember who you are,” kept drifting around in my thoughts. Just what does this mean? I’m really a nobody when it comes to importance. I don’t hold any high position at work, I am not famous in any sense of the word (even if I do have one published book!), and in most scenarios, I would not be missed. How depressing.
On the Other Hand
How does God see me? I am His child. I don’t have to be important or famous. He just wants my company. I’ve had some time to spend with Him. I’ve had some time to bring my loved ones before Him. And I didn’t even feel pressured—like I had to hurry up and pray so I could run off to work, an appointment, do chores—or anything.
It’s very sweet to linger with Abba Daddy; an opportunity to sit by the fire, watch the snow/rain fall and relax in His presence.
What a gift to mix responsibilities of praying for loved ones with the time and privilege to love and think about them as we pray.
The Treasure Within
Scripture tells us we have the light of the Glory of God placed in us by God Himself. This treasure is in our “earthen vessels” so the excellence of the power of God may flow from us. I think that makes it important to rest these “earthen vessels” so that we might be receptive.
How amazing is it that we walk around with this treasure—purposed to share? To impart grace and love directly from our Abba to family, friends and others around us!
We come before Him in a restful, receptive mode—He fills us—we share.
Remember Who You Are!
“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” II Corinthians 4:6,7.

I view myself as a nobody (I haven’t even published a book!).
Gotta wonder…why did God create so many nobodies?
I could be somebody; if I would focus on how God views his creations, rather than on how we sometimes view each other.
I would miss you, Sis. 🙂
Hi Sis: I think you are already a Somebody. A very talented Somebody. A Child of God. Is there really any other way to view one another? Love you.
“we walk around with this treasure.” Grabbing that thought as part of my armor today. Thanks, Linda Jo!
Blessings, Laurie! We are precious in His sight, eh?
