The Prayer
I saw “The War Room” this weekend. Wow! I loved it. If you haven’t seen it yet—what are you waiting for?
This is a story we are either all living or we could be living. It’s a story about redemption in the everyday lives of a family. It could just as well be you and me. We learn how prayer makes a difference in these everyday lives. Yes, it’s a strategy. And when it is done through faith in God, who alone can change hearts and lives, then it works.
“The War Room” shows us how.
What we pray for may take a lot of time. It certainly takes commitment to stick to it, even when we don’t see results right away. But dedication and determination will bring the rewards, however they may look.
The Lies
I chatted with a friend about steadfast praying. I’m sure our conversation was nothing new to most of us. We live busy lives. Some of us have bought into the devil’s lies.
We get home from work, or other activity.
The enemy whispers in our ears, “You poor thing. You are so tired tonight. The last thing you need is to expend more energy praying. You know that will take time and effort. Why don’t you just sit in the easy chair and watch TV or read a book? Vegging, that’s what you need. Zone out.”
The Remedy
But, God’s Word tells us that when we do spend the time with Him, then we are refreshed. And not only are our own spirits renewed, but we have brought loved ones and circumstances before the Throne of God. We are told in the Bible that He hears our prayers.
Remember, there is a lot of activity at the Throne of God and our voices are right there in His ears!
“Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord” Philemon :20.
“And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices” Revelation 4:5a.
