God is still creating in us.
The beginning of January is when you hear all about New Year’s resolutions and what actually happens—or not. Most resolutions go out the window (if you can get it open this time of year when it’s encased in ice) before the first week is up.
But what I have been hearing lately is that most folks aren’t really doing resolutions. A waste of time. What people seem to be doing, instead, is focusing on goals for the year and reviewing last year’s goals to see what kind of progress was made.
I very much prefer this approach. I’ve been doing this for years. I firmly believe that forward movement has actually happened because I have had those goals to follow. When this is done with prayer, I think God reveals to us a vision for our lives that we would never consider for ourselves. I think, sometimes, that God is much more ambitious for us.
Corporations and businesses are big on visions and strategies, so why wouldn’t we want to follow up on this in our personal lives? When we consult with God in formulating our plans, how do they match up with what plans He has for us? What if His dreams really are far bigger for us than what we thought? Will we have the courage to step out and go with those plans?
We are made in His image. Our creations are really His through us. He gives us the talents, we are in His image when we use them to create.
What a challenge! I plan to go step by step and get to that goal this year. I can’t do it without God being before me, beside me, behind me, upholding me in His hand. But I hear Him calling!
What about you?
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10.
