Well, it sure was a relief that Congress and the President managed to put off the fiscal cliff for now. I sure do wish some of those grants could have been cut out so the government could learn to budget as we must do in the private sector.
What decisions must you or I make concerning what to do without so we can live within our budgets? Or at least pay down our own debt? Shouldn’t the government do the same? Stop spending! Cut down existing debts! Save some money (what?)!
Ok, my ire is not quite spent, but a whole lot of good it does to gripe—NOT!
Fiscal cliff. Hmmm … can it be possible that God might be shaking us off our possessions and material mind set? So we can be more fixed on His plans for us instead of our own plans for us? In the brave new world that seems to be emerging, maybe we need to take a look at what God’s plan might be—while it is still day. The night is fast coming.
More questions in this new year: could it be that the Western world, in particular, is targeted for destruction because its root comes from the teachings of Jesus? Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness and Freedom must go? What will take its place?
I heard Michael J. Smith’s song recently, “Open the floodgates of heaven. Let it rain, let it rain.” A dry and thirsty land longs for rain. That refrain stayed with me a long time.
I have heard it said, “The people perish for a lack of vision.” Have we lost ours?
“Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses” Luke 12:15.
