“It could be happening this way…
He stands gazing over the table. Some place settings gleam with crystal, china, gold and silver; others with chopsticks and bowls; still others with golden goblets and knives for spearing food next to wooden bowls. At some sections, bowls sit alone. The table customs of His guests vary, but all will be comfortable in His house. He rubs His hands together in anticipation.
His glance catches at place cards. Late in the day, some of the names are yet to be written. The frown shortly turns into a smile. Time on earth is short.
It’s not long now till His Father will give the word and He can go get His people—His bride. He can hardly wait! **
Around the Table…
Maybe in heaven, around the table at the feast prepared for us, with a jubilant Jesus sitting among us, we will delight in telling stories forever. Tales of how God lifted us above our circumstances and put joy in our hearts even through the tears of sorrow. Maybe as these narratives are told, another will admit to a changed life because of hearing the gospel while on earth. Then another, and another. What a wonderful time it will be to see the great tapestry that God wove through His people during our earthly sojourns.” **
Are You Thinking About It?
Have you been thinking about this lately? With so much warfare of every kind going on in our world, I can’t help but reflect that the time of Jesus’ return is very soon.
To think of Jesus anticipating our arrival at His table is humbling. To think He is excited and making sure that all of our place settings are just so—that we might be comfortable. The kindest of hosts.
What will it be like to sit at His table and feast one day? Have you given it thought?
Imagine It
Fear will be gone. Jubilance will color the atmosphere. Anticipation to meet all those people we’ve read about. The chance to ask them questions that have been burning in our minds. The joy of seeing Jesus smiling and laughing even as He holds up His scarred hands that remind us of our invitation to be there.
I bet the food is out of this world, too!
Invitation
You have been invited to the feast. Your invitation is laying around your house somewhere. Have you accepted? Will you be there?
“…I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, thee you may be also” (John 14:2,3).
