Whoa! I’m still singing Moon River these days.
“Dream maker, you heart breaker. Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way.”

Lewis River WA
Dream Maker
Somehow this haunting tune catches that place of dreams in the soul. The hopes of our imaginations are part of who we are. We want to be more than our hum-drum lives decree that we should be.
I think about where a river begins: sometimes in a quiet place, trickling over rocks, gathering a swell as it flows. Soon it becomes many waters rushing through a course of embankments until it becomes a mighty force with great depths and currents. Where does the journey take it?
It stirs wonderment in my soul—long forgotten aspirations, or new ones—swell inside me. Like the river, I want to be a mighty force with great depths and currents.
Heart Breaker
Life holds out promises and visions. We make our plans. They don’t happen. They fall through. They happen, but don’t turn out as we expected or hoped. We’re disappointed. The years slip by. The dreams go flowing down the river and how can we catch them before they float right off to the horizon and we can longer see them?
Our hearts break.
Businesses fail, people die or leave us, our talents seem to shrivel up. If life fails us, holds out promises in one hand and snatches them back with the other, then what do we have? Yes, broken hearts.
Going Your Way
I love floating down the river in my kayak. It’s peaceful, pleasant and beautiful.
Birds call, beavers swim right under my boat. Moose rustle up their lunch on the banks above me—I don’t get too close. The eagle soars overhead, watching and waiting to dive bomb for fish. The blue heron, whose long legs dangle as he flies, spreads his wings.
As the river meanders, so do our lives. Will we drift? Will we run briskly? Will we rush? Will we rest? But, in my boat, my soul is renewed.
I have done nothing but rest. That’s all God asks me to do. To rest in Him while He plots the course of my river of life and renews my dreams. All these gifts are from Him and His promises are sure.
Wherever He’s going, I’m going His way.
“I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” Isaiah 43:19b.

Have always loved that passage in Isaiah. Lovely post, LJo. And I love Moon River & Andy Williams’ smooth voice too 🙂
Thanks, Nanc. There is something about Andy’s beautiful tones to carry a message, that’s for sure. And that is a favorite Scripture for me, too.
