An Interview with Gail Cooper

Remarkable News: Thank you, Gail, for meeting with us today. We understand that you are launching a new business here in Wild Rose Ridge?

Gail Cooper: Yes, indeed. My husband, Gary, and I are opening Wild Rose Camp on Monster Island. We are very excited to make our home in Wild Rose Ridge.

RN:  What made you embark on this kind of business?

GC:   For years, we have dreamed of retirement and doing a second career in the outdoors. This is ideal.

RN:  What kind of camps do you plan to offer?

GC:  We offer summer camps for school-age children. Then family camps. At other seasons, we will offer a beautiful conference and retreat setting for groups.

RN:  I understand that Claire Curran and her cruise boat, Claire’s Dream, will be ferrying the groups from the dock at Wild Rose Ridge across the lake to the camp on the island, is that right?

GC:  Oh yes. Since the Santa cruises, where Gary and I were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus last Christmas, the idea seemed to grow.

RN:  What about our resident lake monster?

GC:  We really aren’t too worried that he will cause havoc. That happens all by itself.

RN:  In light of the misfortune of your hip surgery, what is your plan for this first year of camp?

GC:  All is not lost. My granddaughter, Dawn, will be coming to help. But keep that under your hat. My friends and I at Hooked on Ewe have a plan to introduce her to Margaret Walcott’s son, Kevin.

RN:  So you’ve joined the Meddling Mothers, then?

GC:  We don’t consider it meddling. We seek to promote and enhance the love lives of our young people. To guide them in the correct direction, you know.

RN: Of course. Well, thank you, Gail, for visiting with us today. We are surely looking forward to camping at Wild Rose Camp on Monster Island.
