The subject of spiritual gifts has been beat to death. I know it. But I just read a bit about them again and I can’t help adding my two cents to the conversation.
I have watched friends struggle over what their spiritual gift is and I wonder that God would have us guessing. Maybe all the gifts are available for us to be used whenever a situation calls for one of them?
In the mornings, as I get up in the cold darkness, and give my day to my Lord, I think about all the tasks before me. I want to serve Him. In whatever I do that day, I want it to be honoring to God. During the course of the day, on my job, I will use natural gifts He’s given me. But if the natural gifts are used to serve the Lord, then do they become spiritual? I think they must.
I sometimes wonder if gifts are something He gives us for service and the Fruits of the Spirit are results as we use everything we are to love and serve our Jesus? If we are exhibiting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in the workplace, then how much better would be our daily administration, sales, construction, all the jobs that make the economy work in our society?
A good reason to start every day offering it to the Lord: to use the natural gifts He’s put into us to serve Him and show others the Fruit of the Spirit in it. Only God knows who may be touched by us and then come to know Him one day.
“Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gifts as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed” I Corinthians 1:7.

Great post, Linda Jo. I appreciate your questions and pondering and the conclusion that perhaps the Lord has in mind far more than what our finite minds think and act upon. In truth, He does. Thank you!
