It’s a risk!
Stepping out into the unknown feels like falling off a cliff. Yet, that is exactly what the keynote speaker challenged us to do at a recent writers conference. He said God has a destiny for us, but it’s up to us to take the leap.
It means that I have to trust my God fully. I have to believe Him when He said, “I know the plans I have for you”. He gives us the talents and expects us to use them. Sometimes I’ve buried them. I thought no one would care, or it’s already been said, done, written. But no one has lived my life or can write what I can write. I am unique, a reflection of the Spirit of my God. He has a destiny for me to fulfill. But I have to leap.
I traded books with other self-published writers. Oh my goodness! I am so amazed at the stories God is composing. Narratives that may never make the best seller lists, but are oh – so important to be related. These are tales of God’s precious children overcoming horrendous things that the enemy has used to try to block them from living victorious lives. But God is an overcoming God.
I am convinced that writers must get their words out there. By web, blog, book, article or speaking, but get them out there. A hurting world needs to hear and He is blending so many stories that glorify Him in so many ways. Just like the facets of a diamond. If writers did not leap and trust God with the results, I would not receive the most splendid encouragement that I need to go on in my own life. Their overcoming accounts give me hope to go on. Could it be that my book does that for someone else?
Maybe in heaven, we will have so much fun telling stories forever of how God lifted us above our circumstances and put joy in our hearts even through the tears of sorrow. And just maybe as those stories are written, another will admit to a changed life because of reading about it. And then another, and another. What a wonderful time it will be to see the great tapestry that God wove through people during earth’s sojourn through time.
Ok, it’s a risk. But God keeps reaching out to give us the desires that will shine through us and give Him glory. We just have to say yes and … well … leap.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” II Timothy 1:7.
