Is there a hush or a sense of waiting in the land?
The winds blew the last few days. Trees bent and the wind flew around the corner of my porch—I heard it! No gentle breeze, this. But a strong gusting. Maybe a fresh breath of life is blowing. A new excitement coming!
In Genesis, we read how God breathed life into the image He had made and “man became a living being.” What must that have been like? Was Jesus standing nose to nose with Adam and blew in his face? And Adam breathed in for the first time? Was it a gasp or a long intake? Wow. Amazing.
Then, in the Old Testament book of Ezekiel, we read how God ordered Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones army in the field to restore the bodies. An astounded (or I would have been!) Ezekiel watched the bodies reassemble themselves. Then God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy TO the Breath to come from the four winds and breathe on the lifeless, but restored army, so that they may live. And they stood up and lived. Oh my! I think if I had seen this, I’d be shaken.
As our brothers and sisters around the world have been carrying the Good News, even to their graves, we have been a numb, unhearing people for many years. Scandals have rocked us. But, more and more messages are blowing on the Wings of the Spirit across this land and the church is reviving. Pockets of believers are now standing everywhere.
I hear a rush of wind these days. After wondering for a long time how Jesus could return for His church without spot or wrinkle, I begin to see the new life breathing in our American believers as well as those around the world. Evidence is everywhere. While the church here is not suffering as it is around the world—there is a stirring of faith in action. I wonder what is around the bend? What is God going to do?
Marantha!
“Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened up your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put my Spirit in you and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it” Ezekiel 37:13,14.
