Spring rain! Ah, the fresh smells; the earth washed clean.
Flowers are bowed down, but when the sun returns, they will lift their faces to the sky once again and show their upright beauty. But now is a time for refreshing and refilling.
Sometimes, a quiet time out is what we need. Time to slow down, sit down, a time to quell the voices that usually run our brains—and our lives. God can speak to us then.
With the downpour on Saturday, my get-up-and-go just got-up-and-went. After a morning of doing chores, it seemed all I could do in the afternoon was to sit in the chair and listen to the thunder and the rain pelting everything in sight.
It reminded me of the Throne Room of God. Scripture tells us God’s Throne is surrounded by rainbows and colors of jewels. When He speaks, His voice sounds like thunder. The River of Life flows from His Throne.
Perhaps an afternoon of sitting, watching and listening is a very good thing now and then.
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street…” Revelation 22:1,2a.

Beautiful post, Linda Jo. I love the thunderous voice of the Lord our God. It is the best sound in the earth. The rainbows in His throne room are spectacular. Have you ever seen the colors of heaven?
That Throne Room scene in Revelation is so awesome and mighty. I can’t hear thunder anymore without thinking of God’s Voice. I think I may have caught a glimpse of the colors of heaven when my husband passed. Wow. How about you?
There is so much spiritual metaphor in rain. I love our Northwest rains. We all need the refreshing of this earthly cleansing! Thanks for the reminder.
Yes, indeed, Jan, I agree. And there is much to be cleansed from in this life. But our God is good. All the time. Bless you.
