Is God Too Busy?
I think many people believe that God is too busy to listen to their small prayers. After all, He does have a universe or two to run, right? That must take a lot of energy and brain power. Of course, when we are discussing God, does energy or brain power even matter?
Leaving Home
A few years ago, my Mama kitty managed to get free from our watchful vigilance and gave birth to four kittens. As soon as they were old enough to leave home, we advertised them. Free Kittens! Two were Siamese. They left home right away. The calico was next, and I could tell she would get a good home, too. Her new owner was rubbing baby fur on her cheek before they left. We still had the last baby. He had no special markers on him, just plain orange stripe, and nothing special to recommend him.
When the last car showed up, it was full with a large, and very noisy family. Skinny hands and arms were waving out the sides of the car before they even stopped outside our house. The Mama of the noisy bunch was boisterous, too. I worried for this baby. But because my goal was a kitty empty nest, I let him go.
The memory of his pitiful little mews bothered me afterwards.
A Request
That baby kitty haunted me. I could just feel his terror running through me.
So, I prayed. Yep. I asked God to please take care of that little boy and calm him and to make sure he had plenty of love and care. As I shuddered, remembering how many squirming little child bodies in that car!
Another Request
A few days later, I got a phone call from the Boisterous Mama. Surprise!
“Is Baby Kitty ok?”
“Oh, land, yes! He’s missing his mama, but he’s just fine. I called to see when his birthday is because we want to be sure to celebrate when it’s time. Just like for the rest of us.”
Is God Too Busy?
I have heard that God even cares about the little things. I guess that’s true. He wasn’t too busy to make sure one small kitten got a good home. He wasn’t too busy to hear my plea for that small kitten, either. And He wasn’t too busy to ease my mind with a simple phone call from Baby Kitty’s new home.
Reassurance.
Because God is not too busy to listen to my prayers, no matter how insignificant they may seem to be.
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11). NKJV
Linda Jo such a good good story and so true.
