Still Busy?
I am retired. I thought that meant slowing down, taking life easy, maybe a lot of play, leaving stress behind.
Uh-hem.
Nope. Just as a friend observed to me recently, life is busier than ever. Don’t let go of that day planner!
As far as I can tell, in talking with people this summer, it’s all been good. Really. Relationship building activities and family time and friend time. I attest to that. It has all been good. I’ve loved every minute.
Is God present?
Yep, you saw that heading right. In all of this really wonderful relational activity, I think we tend to push past God and keep moving, full speed ahead. I know I do.
And, Gentleman that He is, He steps aside and watches our backs as we walk away from Him. I can’t imagine His patience. When I see loved ones, family and friends, moving away from me, I want to run after them and grasp them tightly.
I can’t imagine the open-handed love Jesus has for us. Especially after the sacrifices and gifts of eternal love He’s given to us. Wow!
Joy Flowing
In that very stream of life is the joy flowing from Him to us.
It calls us back to Him.
Not because He runs after us and forces us but because we begin to notice His absence: first through the emptiness in our spirits, and then because we turn into the person we were before we knew Him.
And that will never do!
Underlying all things in our lives is the love of God. The joy of the presence of God. The grace of God that always calls to us.
And calls again. And again.
