He is The Light of the World
How Does A King Come?
Think about how we gather around our tvs to gawk at British weddings.
Think about the fanfare when heads of state visit a country.
Think about the parades you’ve seen in movies about the Roman times. They sure knew how a king should come!
We all have ideas about how a king should come and be welcomed.
Jesus could have come with earthly fanfare, but He didn’t. No trumpets, golden robes or jewels for this King. He came to a stable for birth into His earthly experience. He was born to a virgin mother and heavenly chosen step-father.
Then the sky lit up with angel announcements and choruses to tell the shepherds, minding their animals on the hillside, to go see and worship Him. Hardly King’s attendants.
Much later, the Wise Men from the East, with their entourages, made the arduous trek across the desert to follow a star. They understood this King had come to save them. They brought gifts to honor Him.
How Was A King Missed?
The Old Testament Israelites were waiting for a warrior King, with golden robes, crowns, swords and shields, to deliver them Rome’s tyranny. And so, He was missed by those looking for Him.
We look back. And still, we miss Him.
If Jesus had not been born in the stable, to a poor family (the common people’s King), grew up to die for our sins, rise from the dead, then we would have no eternal hope.
How can we respond to Jesus, our King? Worship Him, bring the gifts of ourselves to Him, and bow before His glory.
How Does A King Come?
In glory and majesty with gifts of salvation and promises of eternity in His tiny fists. That’s how a King comes.
