Pleasant Moment
Finally! Spring!
The warmth of the sun lured me to the river to walk along its banks. The overhanging branches of tall pine trees stood against the cobalt blue sky and dappled the path. The crunch of pine needles under my feet satisfied my need to be out in the woods. The soft breeze carried the scents of new growth, river and pine. Birds twittered my presence and large bumblebees brushed my arms in their hurry to get their tasks finished for the day.
A lone bench beckoned me to sit and soak. I listened to the water ripple along, it’s music brisk but soothing. I heard the buzz of the bees, occasional snap of brush as people or critters passed by.
Ah … heaven.
Leaning Tree
The strange leaning tree caught my attention. How did it grow like that? Hanging over the water. One might think it should just topple over. Gravity must be pulling it down.
Yet its green branches were loaded with pinecones.
In abundance.
It occurred to me that life is often like that. It isn’t straight. It’s crooked. It hangs. It is often in danger of falling and getting carried away by a swift current.
But when faith in our Sovereign God is in place, we stand. No matter the craziness around us. No matter that the line of our life leans.
Our fruit continues to grow.
In abundance.
Deep Roots
This tree must have sturdy roots that go deep. On the surface, the tree leans. But in truth, it stands strong. Its roots are watered by the river beside where it grows. Like faith that goes unerringly deep. The fruit of the knowledge that God keeps His promises. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will unerringly guide us.
No matter what causes our faith to bend, it stands firm.
And continues to bring forth fruit in its season.
In abundance.
