The Word
How many of you choose a new word every year to match your goals? Or your personal growth? It would seem to be an easy thing to do, right?
Unless we want God to choose it for us.
Uh oh.
That’s an unknown.
Behold
This old-fashioned word keeps popping up in 2023 for me. It seems so trite. Nobody really uses this word anymore. Even the newer translations of the Bible don’t even include it. It’s so archaic. The dictionary in Google says so. I looked it up.
Behold doesn’t really leave much room for things learned or projects that are to be checked off. Or celebrated.
Behold Him
Behold the Father’s heart. Behold Him.
It means to look, to gaze upon, to keep looking.
At God.
My Word
Maybe that is my answer for 2023. Behold what God has done for me.
Tasks have been finished in the last year. New tasks lie ahead. But no task is ever done without beholding God first.
Perhaps it is no accident that this is the word chosen for me for 2023. Especially since it is archaic and narrow in its focus.
Behold God
That’s it.
Simple.
Straight forward.
Really. What else is there?
How about you in 2023?
