Written by my friend, Kathy Geary Anderson, this enjoyable debut novel centers around Jenny, who can’t seem to stay out of trouble, and Ben, her childhood partner in crime. But the friendships forged in childhood, especially in the early 1900s, don’t translate well into adulthood. Especially when wealth and class differences are paramount in society. Jenny receives her education in Europe. Ben works his way through school, with honors, and becomes a first-rate lawyer. It seems that life’s course is set for both of them. But when Jenny returns home, she is not content to be a society miss and the story rolls from New York to Wyoming. Living may be a bit freer in Wyoming, but it also opens up new doors for missteps, and Jenny seems to find them all. I cringed with some of the choices Jenny made and how they affected Ben. Through her characters, the author skillfully wove in life themes that all of us encounter at some point. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
