Autumn Grace
God has given us grace in this long, warm, brilliant autumn season this year. I love it. Especially the burst of life and color that actually heralds the winter cold. I can remember a few years ago when autumn became winter overnight. The trees still wore their leaves and we did not see color change that year. It was most sad. But this year has been the most pleasant season I can remember. My windows are still open most afternoons to the fresh and clean air.
And after the difficult summer, this autumn has been most welcome. Like the warm, loving arms of our Abba Father God wrapped around us in comfort.
Living the Story
“The story you live IN is the story you live OUT.”
My Tuesday morning Bible Study is going through Tyler Staton’s book, The Familiar Stranger. Tyler’s book is a study of The Holy Spirit. It is not for the faint of heart. But it is very encouraging for those who want more of God.
I love his quote about living the story. It makes me examine my life and beliefs.
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us when He left earth to ascend to His Father’s throne. To teach us all things. To remind us of all Jesus said. To show us how to live our lives now.
Who of us doesn’t need the guidance and direction that The Holy Spirit provides for us? What is it we truly believe is true about us and our lives? How do we want to live this out?
Encouragement
Back to the warm, comforting arms of Abba. His presence always with us.
So, take heart. It means that we are never alone. We are never really and truly stuck. Because our Father God has a plan and our lives are in that plan. Whether through good times or bad. Even our suffering has purpose. Even if we can’t see it. He can.
It is better to suffer for the will of God than give evil any place in your life.
The Bible talks about suffering all over the place and it gives us purpose. In the margin of my Bible next to 1 Peter 3:14 I wrote, “Verse 14 – Blessed. It’s a privilege because beyond suffering – there is God.”
Beyond the suffering – there is God.
That’s living the story.
“But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled” (1 Peter 3:14 NKJV).
“For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil” (1 Peter 3:17 NKJV).
