It’s Dark
“Time to get u-up!” I sang in the bedrooms of both my children. Despite their groans, they rolled over and jumped out of bed. During their growing up years, our family Easter tradition was to watch the sun rise. I have never been a morning person, but I got myself up in the wee hours to get everything ready to go before getting the kids up.
Still in pajamas and fluffy slippers, we drove to a bluff above our home where we could see a big sky. Easter may be in the springtime, but most years, we shivered in our blankets, inside the car, waiting for light on the horizon.
Cake donut holes were passed around and washed down with hot chocolate. I told them stories about Jesus as we watched for daybreak.
There’s The Light!
Some Easter Sundays, the clouds never parted, and the rain fell. How disappointing. Yet, it did not diminish that this was the day we celebrated our Savior rising again.
But other Easter Sundays, as the shadows fainted away along the horizon, we anticipated seeing the rosy gold rays flash across the mountains. Then the sun rimmed the top, and suddenly it was a fresh, new morning.
Glory!
This is what Jesus gives us in His Resurrection. A fresh, new morning for our souls. A do over. A clean slate. A white washed robe to wear.
We wait in the shadows until we see the Son shining before us. Then, we can let our sins flit away like the dark clouds to reveal the glorious morning. The first day of forever.
In Glory, Jesus wears a golden crown and a white robe with a golden sash. He sparkles and our earthly eyes cannot look upon Him.
Yet, for a time, He became like us. In order to make a way for us to be with Him in glory for eternity. Amazing! He promises to be with us, always. Rejoice! Our Salvation is here!
