A Moment of Time
This afternoon I finished my Christmas decorating. I’m pleased with the result; especially since I didn’t have time to decorate much last year. As I look around, I think how pretty and festive my house looks.
The change in décor didn’t seem to matter much to my companions, however. They snoozed. With all the bustle and boxes being carted around and Christmas music blaring around them, they took a moment of time for a catnap.
Hustle and Bustle
As I contemplate those relaxed fur balls, I think they have the right idea. About this time in the Christmas season, most of us are frazzled and running from event to event, shopping, planning Christmas dinner, and some of us are even baking cookies and making fudge!
It happens every year. You’d think we would have an annual plan we could stick to in order to make sure it all happens in a timely fashion. We could just check off our Christmas to-do lists and be done with it. But every year brings something different.
A Time for Everything
After decorating today, I decided to join my pals. I sat in my chair and put on soft Christmas music. This time of year, winter, I love the period just as dusk is settling in. Lights glow brighter and brighter on the tree, stairs and other places. It’s a quiet, gradual hour, a moment of time for reflection and prayer in the middle of the busy season.
If possible, mark out some minutes in your schedule to chill out, quiet your soul.
This is a time for remembering Emmanuel: God With Us.

Amen and amen! Lovely encouragement, lovely decor, Linda Jo. A joyous Christmas month to you, moment by moment.
And to you, Laurie. Much rejoicing in your family with the lovely new little one. Merry Christmas.
